I also did not need...

...for my laptop to pick this week to start crashing. It's one of the Windows automatic updates which triggers it, so I was able to restore to a previous point. But I haven't been able to figure out which update it is yet.

Fortunately both Windows and my laptop manufacturer have very good facilities for reverting to a previous state. This, while useful, only illustrates the magnitude of the problem. While I've had a Linux kernel upgrade go wrong, I've never felt the need to revert the entire OS to an earlier point--- and I can't recall ever doing a package upgrade and then wondering which component caused the system to break.
