Last night I tried having dinner at Jing Jing in Palo Alto. I had started my appetizer when the power went out. The Silicon Valley geekery were quick to respond by opening up their cellphones to provide illumination, and the restaurant was prepared with lights and candles. But I didn't get my main course. All of the block was out, as were several other patches of downtown Palo Alto.
So I found my hotel and grabbed a fast-food burger, and then discovered that the hotel Internet did not work.
Fortunately today went much better and I arrived without further incident.
