The Codex is a cute machine-construction game. With, perhaps, a few annoying features. What I like about it is that there is scope for nonobvious solutions and time/complexity tradeoffs. (There are high scores for both fewest cycles and fewest elements.)

I achieved a high score on level 3 with this machine (29 cycles, 64 symbols). It has two four-stage pipelines. Each component takes 8 cycles, for a throughput of 1 production unit every 4 cycles. (But 12 cycles of startup latency.)

However, others have found solutions as low as 17 cycles or 8 symbols.
